So it has happened, I hear on the radio that an Elerctrician was electrocuted last night working in an Marks and Spencers in Kent somewhere.
So what will happen now?
New regs?
New insurance?
Only qualified personel to work on Electrics?

As with all statistics they don't show the true picture as they can be distorted by many variables not least the narrow categorisation. With electrical related injuries and fatalities if you could break down each instance to arrive at the root cause I wonder how many of the injuries and fatalities could be apportioned to poor or inadequate training, faulty or dangerous unrepaired or poorly repaired equipment, sheer stupidity the list could be endless. A factory that is not far from where I live has had a number of fatalities and incidents and talking to some of the workers from there the main problem is not following procedure and doing stupid things.

As with a lot of initial reports of accidents reporters lead with sensationalism before fact no doubt the true cause will eventually be reported

Ive done work at a M&S before had to do a Asbestos course.. a M&S asbestos course not a general one it had to be M&S same with H&S.. M&S H&S.. Then when we were working there was someone supervising us work at all times from M&S and they had a security guard with us at all times...

Crikey, who would want to nick their stuff!

No doubt the facts will come out in due course. As has been said, it may not even have been a spark. But given all that is done to reduce death/injury from electricity it's sad to hear of a life ended this way.

Regards

ive never seen any mention of the 2 scottish sparks that were elecrocuted at the m&s at castlepoint when it was being built
balfour beatty were the main contractor, i worked there at the time but left just before the incident
all hush-hush

Does it really matter if it was a electrician or not all these regs arehave come out and that to make electric safe to use supposedly stop people from dieing due to electricity and some one has died wether it be a electrician or a cleaner either way it is bad that this person is dead

If it were a spark .. Damn shame. If it were any other contractor. Damn shame. Worse for the latter. The dno have their dsr. We have safe isolation. Eicr. I think it'll eventually come to a point where we have individual licenses. Sad to say, but someone of high social standing or a member of their family will be the victim before push comes to shove. When the common, working class man dies, no one really pays attention.
