Electrician to IT or the other way?

I know Electricians that have moved into IT and I know IT people that have become Electricians.
I know one individual that swaps and changes every couple of years as he is highly qualified (and respected) in both!

I am sure that there are people that believe with 5 minutes training they can change their careers and other that have a much more realistic approach.

What does everyone feel the main move is these days or is it equal both ways?
Why do most people change? Money? Work/Life balance? Stress? Being self employed? Job Security?

Love to hear peoples opinions and hopefully without too much negitivity or resentment!

I do both (and more) in my current job, I'm qualified in both (and more). Nowadays it can not harm to have more then just one skill to promote yourself with, and opens up more job opportunities.
