Element and fan problem

Hi guys, just joined looking for advice.
I have a counter-display food warmer. It has two heater elements and two fans.
There is no manufacturers name or model number on it.

A week ago, the power switch burnt out (its a lit switch) so I bought an identical replacement.
I replaced it, simple, or so I thought.
Now nothing will operate!
This is what Ive done to date -

Checked continuity between all wires and it all seems to be ok.
Temporary bypassed the cut out switch which makes no difference.
Checked the neutral wire which goes to another lit switched solely for the internal flourescent light - continuity ok.
Checked the neutral wire from power switch to plug - again, continuity ok.
Checked the earth (body to plug) again, continuity ok.

Now, there is one pair of black and white wires that run from the power switch, then spilt into two of each, and one pair goes to each element.
Then its the same withe the two fans.
I understand the principle of the heater elements ( two lives) but not sure about this being the same with the fans?

Anyway, this is where I am - if I plug into the mains, the power switch lights up, as does the lit switch for the internal light ( no tube in machine though as yet, got one on order)
My power detector shows current at both elements and both fans - yet nothing operates ( elements dont start heating, fans dont turn).

So can any of you guys offer any advise before this world becomes one food warmer less?

dropped neutral....is it showing voltage to earth?

Hi Glennspark, thanks for the quick reply.
Not sure, Ill check when Im back there tonight.
Do you think thats a strong possibility?
My main concern is that the two fans are wired the same as the elements ( both sides to live), and although I understand this is how the elements work, Ive never come across this with fan wiring.

Hi Fast&Rough, yes might have to do that.
Im just wondering whether its correct that both terminals of each fan go to live ( same as the elements), either way, theyve been connected to the power and havent blown anything

usually all elements and fans share a common neutral. you need to use a voltmeter or approved tester to see where you have L-N voltages and where they are missing. bear in mind that the switch is probably 2 pole.

And check the stats. ( If you haven't proved Line to the elements.) As above too, you may not have an identical switch.
