Discuss ELEX Shows - what would encourage you to attend? in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net

I've been to Coventry, Harrogate and Manchester Elex shows in the past 2 years and find they are all the same and not much is discounted. Maybe putting a special pack screwdrivers (for example) at a good discounted price for show goers would be nice, and not only for ten first ten customers.

The vast majority of vendors dont accept debit card payment and some of the items are quite expensive so paying by cash is and carrying a wad of notes around all day is not my idea of fun.

Food and drinks are too expensive.

As already said above, hold the show on a Friday and Saturday so people can go to it on their day off.

In this day and age of reduced customers/jobs etc, any chance of local/national work agencies or electrical firms setting up a stall or two and offering work or advice to find work. Lot of people out there have not got a full time on the books job and I think you would increase the foot flow into the shows.

... and not only for ten first ten customers.

It was frustrating at Sandown on Friday afternoon and finding lots of stuff all gone, both samples and stuff for sale, so next year I plan to go on the first day.

Food and drinks are too expensive.

I think the expensive catering often comes with the venue, not sure if a hirer gets a choice. It was a bit of a rip off to get a free bacon roll voucher but then find the price of the tea might have bought the roll and the tea somewhere with normal prices!

As already said above, hold the show on a Friday and Saturday so people can go to it on their day off.

Saturday is often my busiest day, for all those away during the week!

Its always good to have a laugh with your name badge as all the vendors look at it to see if your worth while talking to. One of mine from last year.......

Btw my surname is not Mooney, that was tongue and cheek. Well more cheek than tongue lol. Cant post up the last name badge on the open forum but it certainly made loads of people laugh, even endd up on youTube with the two lovely show girls. And no I'm not posting up a link to that, it's to adult for the open forum.

I had the opportunity to change it but I thought "No, I'm going to have a laugh with this." So away I went around the stalls buying a few things, looking at a few things and getting scanned every time. The look on the peoples faces was great when they read the badge around my neck, pmsl. Some of the stalls told their colleagues to come over and have a look, 4 of them took a photo to show their workmates and one woman took a video to post on YouTube! The fun I had with that badge, must do it again next year

. Oh I also got stopped by the two dolly birds (in white if you was there) and chatted to them for 5 mins. I've never seen sooooo many blokes jealous of me talking to two beautiful women lol.
