Extractor fan is currently wired to light switch. Plan to remove this wiring and wire to timer switch will have new cable run and new wall box. Access looks straightforward to drop a wire down. Will post picture of wiring instructions for timer and hopefully someone can confirm it's as straightforward as live in from current light circuit live/loop then live out direct to fan and neutral connected to light circuit neutral and earth connected up too but not to timer switch as no earth terminal. Have pics of all wiring involved if needed. Majority of house is old wiring colours.
Mainly want to check that I don't need to utilise the Trigger terminal mentioned in instructions and is a 3 wire switch simply just meaning a 3 core and earth cable effectively? Thanks.

TL;DR
Extractor fan - wire in new timer switch

as mentioned by Westward a link is the way forward, nothing wrong with that and the pull cord will then be the on off switch.

"It works" and "it's safe" are not necessarily the same thing. With DIY work, they are often far from the same thing.
