I've been asked to price a job at a recycling plant. Big open sided factory unit with heavy machinery inside. The site is vast and their energy use is huge as you could imagine.

However, also connected to the same supply are a couple of portakabins which act as a staff room and site office. Their energy use compared to the rest of the site is negligible. They are very old and tattered and look like they could easily fall apart with a bit of wind.

My understanding is that these portakabins would need an EPC rating. Am I right? And does anyone have any experience of trying to get EPCs for Portakabins? I'm guessing that it will be near enough impossible. If that is the case, should I get an energy assessor to write a letter explaining as such?

I'd really appreciate some help.

depends if they class as temporary buildings or not, but if you're banging a lot of pv on it might be worth just getting one of them assessed as it won't cost much and they're bound to be over a D due to the PV.

My experience with commercial EPC assessors is that they are attracted to places like staff rooms and small offices on industry sites. I normally allow ÂŁ350.00 but does depend on how big the site is.
