Hi
Having a bit of a dilemma on a installation done in Early Nov.

We have installed 3 different systems over a 2 year period on agricultural buildings. Having used the same Non EPC letter for the first two installs, we used it again on the third. Because the customer has moved electricity suppliers British Gas wouldn't process the third. So off we went to EON, they said that it was BG responsivity to accept the third because of the previous two.
Having excepted there mistake BG have know said that all applications are to receive the lower rate due to the farm house being connected to the farm buildings.
I didn't know that the house was off the 3 phase supply and the EPC assessor didn't ask the question.
Why would I have an domestic EPC issued on a commercial installation.

Any ideas

thanks

How many meters are on the farm? Is the house on the same meter (MPAN) as the farm or metered separately.

If metered separately you might have an argument that the commercial is separate but I suspect this might go against you :(

If the house is benefiting from the electricity being generated it probably shouldn't have been signed off the way you did.

No chance of the house reaching the D grade I assume?

What if you had a new MPAN installed for the house and leave the existing MPAN for the farm?

Depending on the costs it might be worth looking at compared to the FIT loss they're going to lose.

Sorry this is not the kind of situation I'd like to find myself in either :(

Is the actual house meter in the house or out in the farm buildings?

Can you move the FiT to another supplier entirely - perhaps to Good Energy? They may be more sympathetic to your situation than the big boys.

A friendly phone call may do the trick. Tell them that you've not been happy with British Gas's service for the past couple of years and Eon are no better. Switch the entire supply at the same time and they may like you even more.

WPD wont put in another supply this is why the house is connected to the farm supply. The customer ask this question in seventies. The meter for the farm is the farm building. Most farms in our area are like this

Unfortunately unless there already was an EPC D for the farmhouse at the time I suspect you / your client are likely to be a bit ********ed here, as the energy companies are applying the regulations correctly now.

IF one existed they could probably be persuaded to take that EPC as being valid now and it just having been an oversite, but assuming there wasn't one at the time I can't see how they could accept one that's dated for now.

I think you probably ought to inform your professional indemnity insurance company to put them into the loop on this depending on the size of the potential claim, and review your paperwork from the time to check who was responsible for arranging the EPC etc.
