So I am after a bit of advice from anyone that has previously or has now an Electrical Labourer ECS or Trainee Card. I was told to sit the ESC H&S Exam, passed it. I then go online, and it's saying that the Qualifications I have don't match.

From the site:
The Electrical Labourer ECS card is for people working in the electrical industry in a supportive role to assist electricians and other qualified staff with the installation of cables and other unskilled work, under supervision. They are to assist but not carry out any craft work that an electrician carries out.

A labourer has a specific job role within the JIB grading structure.

In some
situations this card may be issued if you cannot meet the qualification requirements of other cards such as Installation Electrician. If you hold a Labourer card, you can upgrade to an ECS gold card once you have gained further qualifications.

But if you look at Route One I meet the criteria. I've emailed them, or I may phone them on Monday.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Hi mate..

I'm in the same boat as you were.. I have completed my level 2 and my H&S assessment, currently doing my level 3. But finding it very difficult to find a employer in order to get my ecs card. Nightmare!

Will this card not be enough?

You dont need an employer to get a labourers card as you already hold the level 2.

I have completed a level 3 - C&G 2357 course but and recently a ECS safety course. Now the site tells me I need endorsement for a labourer (2018) card?
Anyone else having same issue

I am looking at getting the NVQ done with a training provider called Xssollutions do you think they could help?

the trouble is how do you get on an agency job with no ECS card ?

Have you considered XS training, a forum sponsor. I couldn’t recommend them more, they will help get your nvq done and sort an ECS card out ?

Im in same sittuation. Have completed 2365-02 and doing 2365-03. Have completed ECS health and safety but when trying to apply it keeps saying i need endorser/employed.

Thought i was going down route 1 which doesnt mention needing to be employed. Very confusing.

Nervermind. Just phoned them up thinking it was going to be a nightmare. Route 1 is correct if dont have employer. Something wrong with there system so nice lady on phone overrided that and have now applied and payed.

Just phone them up if having probs. Long wait but quickly sorted.

Good luck.

I managed to apply for my ECS Electrical Labourer card yesterday with just my 2365-02, 2365-03 & ECS Health and Safety.

If you apply for JIB grading as Electrical Labourer then you need employer endorsement, but if you apply for your ECS Card with the occupation Electrical Labourer & do not apply for a JIB grade (Select ungraded) they will allow it without any endorsement. This will let you get the card before you have a job, and then once you're in employment and have an endorsement, you can reapply for the card to be JIB Graded.

Obviously, this isn't ideal but if you've done the college route like I have and are struggling to get a job in the industry you can get a card first this way which will make you more attractive to employers as you can be taken on-site.

Reference the bit about "Select Ungraded" above.

I tried this today via online application having uploaded my 2365 Level 2 cert and completed their H & S exam. I had to phone the ECS helpline number - they are able to update the online application their end so that you don't have to provide a nominated employer.

The 'interactive' web based application wizard thing gets stuck otherwise ! Apparently this is a 'non standard' application and requires intervention on the ECS side.

Hope this helps someone.
