ET4U - Domestic Electrician Course (15 days) - is it any good?

Hi all....

I'm thinking of retraining as an electrician with the intention of going self employed immediately. The plan is to drum up my own business and also subcontract myself to other local electricians for days at a time to help them with larger jobs.

I live near the ET4U training centre near Burgess Hill, Sussex and was wondering whether anyone has been and has any comments on it! Domestic Electrician Training Courses, Domestic Electrician Course, Domestic Installer Training, Electrical Training 4U is 15 days really enough time to become a full electrician?

I have been told over the phone that the course will provide me with an ideal route to register with NAPIT. My last question is, is there any meaningful difference between the different Part P organisations? so NAPIT, NICEIC, etc....

I have just come across this post and feel that I should make a comment as I also trained at ET4U. In my opinion the training was very good and I am now a member of NAPIT. I am learning something new every day and if I ever have any problems I am straight on the phone to the guys ET4U who have always been there to help and resolve my problems.

Take it you have there number on speed dial. 15 days into my apprenticeship I was making tea cleaning up and scrambling round lofts. Do you know something?

I wouldn't swap it for a 15 day become a full electrician course ever!

Thanks for the reply....

I was an apprentice some 10 years ago when I worked for an Electrician who was part of a big shop fitting firm that did all the re-furbs on Jennings bookmakers. This is just part of the experience I have when it comes to electrical works. At the time, I decided that I wanted to go off an do other things and therefore did not complete my apprenticeship. Therefore, ET4U gave me the opportunity to gain my qualifications that I needed (and would have had had I completed my apprenticeship) to practice as an electrician/domestic installer. I honestly thought their course they provide and teach is to a very high standard and the staff there are very passionate about the industry, people doing things properly and most inportantly "safely".

Whilst I appreciate I don't have as much experience in the industry as a lot of people, looking at my background and where I have been and what I have seen I probably have a lot more other skills/experience that most people will never have the opportunity to gain having been in the emergency services for the last 10 years.
