Ethernet cable problem

Hello, I have a 400mbps internet contract. When I plug my Ethernet cable into the modem->straight into my laptop I get my 400mbps. When I plug my Ethernet cable into one of the outlets trough the house I only get a 100mbps. All the cables are CAT6 and I’ve tested all of them. When I use them straight out of the modem they just give 400mbps. Speed & duplex is set to auto negotiation.

How do the ethernet cables around the house connect to your modem? I assume you are going through a switch? What's the max speed of the switch? What speed do you get if you connect the laptop direct to the switch ?

Cable are going from the modem trough the wall to a CAT6 switch. The cable that is running trough the wall is connected to the switch with RJ45

I don’t use a network switch, cable is going from the modem to a wall outlet, in the wall outlet I’ve got another cable plugged into the computer

In your first post you say you can plug into any of the outlets in the house and only get 100mbs. Going by this I assumed that you had a switch. How are the other outlets connected if you don't have a switch? Have you just daisy chained all the outlets together?

Some cheap patch cables only have 2 pairs instead of 4, this will limit the speed to 100Mbps. If you are using different cables to the ones that are working.

I think his modem has switch ports that he is extending through the building wiring, that is what i think is happening. As already mentioned it could be the building wiring may not be to the same configuration as necessary for greater than 100M/s . OP needs to get a cheap RJ45 tester and check wiring is equivalent to an 8 wire patch.
