I don't know who suggested Jevban come on here and seek more help (the Navitron forum has already been more than generous with their advice). It certainly wasn't me.

I think the way this has played out is that Jevban simply used a poor PV installer (who happens to be Turkish and has other interests there - as does Jevban) and who has not made it easy for the problems to get fixed.

My advice is - don't get involved.

I can't believe that MCS haven't sorted this issue by now.

Someone needs to go to site, take pictures, condemn the whole thing, kick the firm out of the MCS and then arrange for a firm to put it right.

The drilling through the slate is a big issue as far as I'm concerned. I know Gavin does this but I'm thinking he probably does it to the high standard that is required. I doubt very much that these clowns have taken much care.

To be honest, reading that the gaffer has been blaming the customer utterly enrages me. It makes me want to march into their offices with a flamethrower.

I don't want to upset the apple cart but we've been fitting on slate again today and guess what - next door, who's installers "have done a brilliant job" has got broken slate where - guess what - the slate has been drilled.

Its' been on about 18 months and the wear round the hanger bolts has gradually split the slate, it's sitting in the gutter now. The house is 10 years old - I see a new roof coming before too long - never mind, the installers "have done a brilliant job"

I'd expect to see some lead flashing on any bolts close to the edge of the slates.

tbh as the slates appear to have spray foam insulation on the back of them, I don't see that there would be any other way of installing this system without destroying half the slates on the roof trying to rip them out - the spray foam is like some form of superglue for tiles / slates, we did one on rosemary tiles a few years back using brackets and it took 4 days with boxes of replacement tiles needed for all the breakages. Assuming the sprayfoam is applied direct to the slates.

I hate those sprayfoam companies.
