Hi

Dont know if anyone can help I have a solar pv setup, consisting of a SMA sunny boy 3000hf, and 13 x 245w sharp panels. This was the most I could fit on my roof. I am now having an extension built, so I have a decent roof available. Is it possible to fit some more panels on the roof, would the inverter need to be changed or could I have 2 inverters? How would this affect my feed in tariff? As I'm on the 43.3 p deal, that's soon to end, if what I'm proposing above is achievable, would the extra bit be at the reduced amount? I don't want to sacrifice my old 43.3 contract.

Hopefully someone can offer me some advice

Thanks

John

your old system will be 43.3p new one 21p but I dont know if it worth the extra cash, as for two inverters is probably the only option.

Hi Babba

The roofs face the same direction, but they are at different angles, the current setup is on a 50 deg and the new one is 30 deg, it's single story disabled annex for me as I've got motor neurone disease, would I have 2 generation meters?

Cheers

John

I would say get a quote on adding 3 panels with a new inverter and i think you would need 2 meters as you could not work out how much your 3 panels was producing...good question made me think...

Do you need two generation meters when extending a system? Or are fits paid at percentages of your generation meter reading of the sizes the orginal and extension of solar. Does any body know?

If there is more than one inverter then you can use multiple meters - but you don't have to. The reading will always be pro-rated amongst whatever the applicable tariffs are based on the TIC of each part, although, with multi-aspect and multi-shading issues, this may not be in the owners best interest.

I was under the impression that if you added to a solar system within the 1st 12 months you still get the original tarriff as its treated as the same installation.

Can anyone confirm?
