Hello,

I have a new electrician doing some work for me but i'm unsure at the rate he is charging and how long he is taking to do the jobs. I think he is taking his time on the jobs to make it feel like the amount we are paying him is justified.

At the job the inverter, isolators are already mounted and the dc cabling is all made up to wire into the isolators. How long would it take to do all of this work plus the AC side (installing garage unit)?

How much does everyone think this work should cost? All materials are supplied by the way....

Thanks,
Ryan.

He does a good job, but if he finishes the job in half a day then we are going to dispute the job rate he is giving us for future jobs...

The Job rate is ÂŁ420.00, i feel it is ÂŁ170.00 too much but i dont want to dispute a reasonable price.

Sorry i explained wrong... I think it should be half a days work, but it takes him a day usually to complete the job. That includes travelling, although the installation was only 10 miles away from his home.

Yes, we were stuck in a rut as we had 5 installs this month to get in before the 2/3 with no electrician, so we didn't really have time to pick and choose....

Employing electricians.... Not much. My role in the job is everything apart from wiring the system up (Please don't hurl abuse at me for being MCS accredited when not trained as an electrician) :icon9:

Because of this electrician, have you earnt money?
Maybe a better way to look at it is without him you would have earnt nothing.
Or is it that you want to earn even more from the jobs?

No, thats not the point. I just don't want him upping his rates because he thinks i'm making a lot of money on the job. I just want a fair price for doing the job....

Last electrician was unreliable, everything seemed a problem to him and also was going to use 2.5mm SY cable over 40m instead of 6mm SWA which i had 'the newer' electrician install....
