Phil

anyone fancy being a mentor? drop me a pm.
did we all get to the stage we are at in our trades without the guidence and help from someone? now i am not suggesting we are to take on the fall outs from the 4 week electrician trades. i would like to see some trainees etc that have limited say testing experience given a show of the ropes with some of us that have done it for a few years. i appreciate some of you work for an employer so it would not be possible and thats fine, but if anyone feels they could offer say an adult trainee who has worked hard on evening college and can`t get the brake they need into the trade because of lack of on the tools this would be a good opportunity for us to give a little back to the guys coming in where we were one day. i as you know am in uni a lot at the moment and not on the tools much but i would be happy for someone to tag along. you never know you could end up with a real good employee out of it. hats off too the guys on here durham being the last one i remember for taking someone under his wing.
lets face it thats what we are doing on a night time on here anyway, helping others and getting help when we need it.
if anyone is interested drop me a pm and i will get a list together for the different areas and hopefully build something good here.

also if you are looking for a mentor drop me a pm with your details and experience, quals etc and i will pass it onto someone in the area or closest i have.

Brilliant Idea mate im looking for a mentor as im in 2 colleges now doing the whole lot except AM2/NVQ3 as I cant get an employer for the NVQ so could really do with more on the Tools experience. I'll PM you my details tomorrow if you dont mind mate Cheers

the iet were trying a few years ago to get a list of such people together but i am not sure anyone apart from the first mention ever followed it through. i have contacted many companies and have a few meetings with small companies on the strength of a couple of emails. i would really love this to take off. i have a couple of emails pending for sponsorship of continued training.

Hi Phil

I think its a great idea, which would help me alot. I have industry management, teaching and business mentoring background, which may help others. I lack electrical exprience! I did my C&G 2330 level 3 over 3 years at college while working as a business studies teacher, I passed my 2391-10 in june and part P approved. I now work full time doing electrical and property maintenance. Steve

Hi phil thats a really great idea i would like to gain more experience of anybody and would appreciate a mentor i am hopefully going to be self employed but to get to work with a more experienced sparky would be great and for continued training . You already have my details i believe cheers and good luck with it
