Discuss Experience of new/established one man bands... in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi,
i think it may be hard to make a decent full time wage doing solely EICR's unless you have a lot of money behind you for advertising or a customer base already. By the sound of it you would want to do a proper job of them too which may be hard to get your foot in the door somewhere as most people want them done for next to nothing and some electricians are more than happy to just sign a cert off after nothing more than a quick look around.
I know a guy who only does inspections and won't even do remedials, but all his work is London based and large offices / factories, he spends a fortune on google and internet advertising. Good luck if you go for it but no harm in advertising yourself for all aspects of electrical work if competent.

ÂŁ54.00 for an EICR on a 3 bed house - not worth the paper its written on.

Who is the mug? Cheapskate customer I reckon. They paid ÂŁ54.00 to be told they need rewiring, probably unnecessarily. Chap who carried out EICR would get 1st crack at quoting for it.

Would be nice to know if OP continued with his endeavour and made a success or not...
