Logical Energy

Hi there,
We are just about to release a power perfecter product here in the UK and Ireland in the next week or so. We are fully aware of the benefits for the 3 phase commercial market where savings of up to 26% are achieved, but has anyone had really positive results in the domestic market correcting "Dirty Electricity"?

Welcome along.:cool4:

Thank you very much :lightbulb:
Logical Energy are a renewable energy wholesale business that was established back in 2006 before the FiTs rush! Originally a solar thermal installation company, we quickly evolved supplying the ever growing solar thermal installation companies that were springing up, with a quality solar thermal evacuated tube. We then added high yeilding PV products with award winning manufacturers such as SolarWorld, Siliken, REW, Isophoton and EN thin film solar when the FiTs was introduced. We are now involved in wind turbine projects both in the UK and Ireland, OEM solar thermal evacuated tubes, flat plates and our soon to be launched power efficiency box's.

We have moved into power efficiency products as the market has changed. The reduction in the FiTs, as we all know, has effected a lot of people in the industry. There are very few electricians currently rushed off their feet with PV installations in the UK, yet power efficiency and carbon reduction remain at the forefront of consumers minds. Logical Energy are always looking for innovative reliable quality products/investments to stay ahead of the competition, and as such will be launching single and three phase units of power efficiency box's by the end of May.

We do hope to have some feedback from installers of such devices as to how they get on with the current product they install?

What features and benefits are liked the most by the electricians?

Which are disliked, if any?

What is the feedback from customers on their savings, both in domestic and commercial markets?

This probably isnt the place to ask such, but being new here im sure we will be prodded in the right direction!

Many thanks to you all out there. Oh, do remind your potential PV customers that the Feed in Tariff is alive and well!!

They sound a good money maker but not sure about if they are all they claim - i had voltage optimisation installed in a 16 storey tower block for the communal electrics i was monitoring the lighting load (10kw) and that did drop by 10% (old magnetic ballasts) But lighting output fell by same amount ! So i'm more inclined to redesign using energy efficient lighting etc and apparently vo doesnt work on new lighting.

Thanks for your feedback. The product is more a power factor correction product than a voltage optimiser. The smallest is an auto adjusting 3kVar single phase device. This would suit a larger house with more than the usual number of inductive loads or a small commercial operation on single phase. What makes it unique is a Bluetooth interface giving the user a dashboard on their pc or laptop. This enables real time monitoring and recording of power usage and savings. We know that in industrial situations, if sized properly, it will give substantial savings. What we are looking for is anyone with an understanding of this kind of product in the domestic market. The last thing we want is to garner a bad reputation. We thought we would ask you guys first.

Power Perfector units are basically three transformers in a box, a very basic product that does not deliver what is promised. Pay for an overpriced product, and it will only cause disappointment. For the home market, the three leaders are VPhase ( cheap and delivers very little by way of savings), VO4Home ( technically a very good product but HUGE, too big for the home really) and VoltisHome (mid-priced not much bigger than a DB and performs as well as, if not better, than the VO4Home).

Logical Energy --Can you please send me ( PM ) details of your Irish Office / Irish salesman please. We are looking into getting one of these units in and are getting quotes from as many companies as possible.

I have seen first hand the savings results these units can deliever. We are looking to install one of these units and we have calculated that the cost can be recovered within X yrs.
If you are a large industrial user of electricity these units will save you many thousands in a short space of time.

We fitted Voltis in one factory with an annual usage of ÂŁ500k. It saved ÂŁ97k in the first year, payback was within 3 years. I've seen Power Perfector promise huge savings but never yet seen one that delivers what is promised.

I think the problem here is the use of the term 'Power Perfector' The product is not a voltage optimiser like VPhase or Voltis but an automatic power factor correction device linked to a bluetooth enabled power management/monitoring software. Within the range is one for single phase rated at 3kVar. And what we wanted to know from the vast range of experience of the forum members was whether this was a product that has a place in the domestic market. The 3 phase units range from 15kVar to 250kVar.

Lighthouse Phil PM on it's way.

I think you will find from the Power Perfector website they are indeed voltage optimisers. Just curious, how much are the units?

We must apologise, our error in using the term 'Power Perfector' it was not our intention to confuse. The product we are about to launch onto the UK market is totally new and is NOT related in any way with the product marketed under the 'Power Perfector' name. Sorry.
