I am wiring a kitchen and have to extend the ring. I am not able to run a new leg to extend it. Would it be acceptable to crimp inside the socket to extend one of the legs, using through connectirs and heat shrink.(I can't run a new leg as the stage the jobs at I have taken over from another electrician who has scarpered)

will be fine if its concealed in the socket backbox, use through crimps or wago pushfit connectors are quite good for that, only thing is you may want to put a deep backbox in as it can get a bit busy with a returning leg to fit in behind there aswell!! hope this helps

the wagos I got from my wholesaler are only rated at 24A are there ones rated at 32A available. Thanks for the speedy replies guys

i think on the ring you would take in to account that the current is spread down both legs of the ring, the cable is rated as 21 amps max if i remember correctly (2.5 t+e). its because its in a ring. thats why a radial in 2.5 would be protected by 20amp mcb so your 24 amp ones are fine.......
