Extending Immersion wiring

Hi I've to extend the dual immersion wiring both sides , fixed wiring to switch and immersion flex

Usually when extending these loads I double both ends of the wires back and insert wires in the same side and tighten them both under 2 screws. I always assumed this was a better connection than shoving a wire in either side under 1 screw each.

Prefer not to use wagos but just wondered thoughts on this as I've been caught out with an overheated connection on an old job and don't want same happening again

I have had extended consumer units smoke from choc block connectors, moved to crimps after that, now only use wago or similar, why would you not?

I dont particularly trust them on high drain loads. I'm not going to get to wagos today anyhow

Just querying my method of doubling up wires under both screws rather than inserting wires each end which I assumed is a better job
