Extension lead (camping site)

Hi all,

I am going camping in a few months time the camping pitch that I'll be on will have a electrical hook up.

Is it safe to buy a standard household extension lead and replace the plug for a camping hook up one ( IP44 industrial plug) ? Like this one

A lot of campsites get funny if your not using proper kit and the black flex is dead giveaway.

On a side note I quite like the light that gas lamp gives off it's rather pleasent to sit out by.

That’s not “proper” camping! Shouldn’t have electric, should only have gas primus stoves, and a gas lantern.....that’s part of the fun!

So some of the hikers/cyclists said when we told them leccy as in with the price. They huffed off having paid what they thought should be an 'extra' just to come down 10 minutes later and ask where they could plug their phones in to charge.

"Yes, in the bar there... but you would have to buy a coffee for the priviledge"

gas for camping? luxury. a meths drinker and candles was all we had in winter on the Brecon Beacons.

pfffft I took wadding and a flint, lightweights.......... ;o))))

a flint??? we had to rub 2 dicks sticks together

We always used wood fires for cooking and warmth and used to rub two bit scouts together to get the fire lit.
