External power to she'd from garage.

Hi guys just wondered if the following is acceptable. My customer wants me to run power to his shed from his garage. I fitted the CU in the main house and his garage and all is tested and covered by RCD's however the ground between the two out buildings is concreted and he doesn't want to dig it up to run the SWA that I would usually use. I advised we can go above but he doesn't like the idea of this. Now the third option is to go between the two buildings using some pond flex or similar clipped to the bottom of the garden fence. I've had a brief look it he regs and OSG but I can't find anything to say I shouldn't do this but I just haven't in the past and would like your thoughts on it? Ill take a deeper look tomorrow after work but any suggestions would help. Thanks guys.

Remind your customer the flex will carry a voltage that can kill and just because the flex is on show and unlikely to be damaged is not a good argument it needs to resist damage in the unlikely event it does incur damage.

PS ask him why he wants a competent qualified electrician to carry out the work ..... i would assume to ensure the job is done correctly and safely.

How about you having the aptitude to go figure yourself as I was taught the basics and then had to learn myself but then again no doubt you are a part of the why bark when you have a dog mentality at least try and gather some info then come back and ask a question. SWA and only on fence if it is in good condition and sturdy ... its in an environment prone to damage and been knocked a bit over its service life....

Customer don't want this
Customer don't want that..... be careful the cart doesn't lead the horse here ... tell him the option and if he doesn't like tell as a professional you are required to do the job correctly and neither options you give he wants so say you can't do the work and ask him to contact an electrician who will give a lower standard short term fix if he wants other options...

I think this is one of those situations where a little knowledge is a dangerous thing and you need to tell him not ask him how its going to be done.
My reply in these situations is usually its my way or the high way.

Just as I thought another DIYer who will get annoyed when he's sussed out.
As usual they get abusive and really hurtful to us poor electrician who give them good advice.

there are literally hundreds of posts on the very thing you are asking.
the bottom line is- If you are an electrician and qualified to carry out the works, then you should not need to ask such a simple question.
if you are in any doubt, you perhaps should advise your customer you do not have the experience necessary to do the job and advise they find someone competent.
