just wondered if any of you have any ideas, i am going to look at installing a fan in a cafe toilet,

now i know from my head there is no walls leading to outside the building as the wc is in the middle of building

there is derilict upper floor, could i just let the fan blow up that direction, and how would this kind attatch to ceiling , is there a flange???

any pointers any useful tips be great, ive installed the normally bathroom ones... but thats it.

and if i remember right it requires a live , a switched live and neutral and earth....

ok thanks for the links, but if i cut a 4 inch hole in ceiling, i cant see a possible soloution bar blocking the 4inch pipe and then the fan no good..hmmm building regs book i propbably need
If you put an intumescent seal around the extract duct as it passes through the compartment, then in the case of a fire, the seal will swell and block the duct; true after this the fan would be useless but then again the building has burnt down and may need a new fan!

The building regs book is very good and useful to have but you can get all the information in more detail (sometimes excessive and hard to find detail) from the approved documents available for free download from here Planning Portal - Approved Documents - Downloads
