ive got to design and install supply to about seven sheds on a farm 3 of them going straight back to meter position on the edge of a field in a brick constructed hut made for purpose for the new supply, the supply is tp&n i do no that the power and lighting accessories have to be ip44 rated but what about the db? standard 3 phase dbs are metal clad do i have to fit it into an ip rated enclosure or is there another type i can use?

There are standard plastic TP+N DB's also. You can get them for anything up to IP66 and probably above too!! Most of the bigger names in distribution manufacture plastic 3 Phase DB's, Schneider (Merlin Gerin) for one, springs to mind!! lol!!

There is a guidance note for farms and I think a lot changed with the 17th, generally I would say as the building is constructed specifically as a plant/mains room then no, the same as in a farm office,
Most decent farm installs will have a plant room for vac. pumps, generator etc. with the incomer in there I can see no need for the DB to be mounted in an enclosure there.

Any other agricultural areas should have IP rated accessories/fittings though.
On a side note, what about farm workshops, should they have IP rated Sockets etc. ? I think not necessary but not sure.

two outbuilding's are in sheds and existing lights and sockets are starting to rust, the other shed is used as a workshop and both side entrance and main doors are always open from what ive seen. there is no room or cupboard to put them in just a roof over the top.
