Farmer wanting to retrain

Hi, after 25 years farming we have downsized the farm (back to landlord) and I am looking at a real job with slightly less unsociable hours. Feel free to comment?!

I have always done my own screwdriver work in conjunction with a local sparky and have always been interested in this side.
Any comments as to how to move forwards, domestic / industrial / agricultural (?) but do I really want to be working for farmers that can't afford to pay!

Self employed agricultural labour contractor at moment, an apprentices wage probably wouldn't stretch far enough to run the family!

Having read a few threads, I am always here to comment on the practicalities of farm situations!

Look forward to getting into sparky speak!

If you take up work in the electrical field, it barley covers the day to day expenses
It may not be a stable income
It can also be a pig of a job with a lot of bull to contend with,scams pulling the wool over our eyes etc
The current poultry earnings are a load of bull for us current crop of sparks,
I'm not sitting on the fence, I might duck out of it if it becomes more of a head acre
The schemes are milking us of the little money we have,which is chiken feed compared to plumbers
Hows that for farmer speak

Some people who already are very pratical and have some knowledge of sparkying can progress very quickly to become a domestic electrician. I would personally speak to the contractor you used to qwork in conjunction with and ask him how he went about it etc...
