R c d tripping in main c/ unit in house think intermittent fault on cable to garage.disconected at both ends my steinel testers show fault between all conductors.my mates fluke and insulation testers show clear ,i test with mine again and fault . So when I go to get new cable I buy new fluke testers and with these ,yes you guessed it I get a fault. What am I missing.

Thanks specialist replaced cable as it was PVC t+e ,found joint under floor connectors in a box went in a tube under a path under stone steps etc so may not have been in tube entire route . Think been in about 20years so best to replace.

Hi Phil: Sorry mate, for some reason I thought you'd said it was an SWA installed. Now I totally understand why you changed it. Had a Steinel for years myself & found them quite good, only problem is that like a lot of other 2 pole testers they measure up to something like 200k & will react on body resistance

Hi Phil: As long as you only touch 1 probe with your hand you won't have Any problem. As for you I/r tester: I allways carry mine on any fault finding job, plus multimeters etc, but like you turn to my voltage continuity tester first for basic front line fault finding.
