I don't mind ferruling connections in panels, but i hate double bootlace crimps! They make it a ball ache to fault find ect! I prefer RYB crimps. I wouldn't ferrule solid core cables. The only reason bootlace ferrules are used is to stop the cable from flattening excessively during termination, and to keep the strands together.

Why not?? If it's specified in your companies contract, that's what is installed!!

We have the same specification on our project. I find you get a better/tighter connection at the MCB terminals, probably because of the greater CSA you get, using a ferrule crimp!!! Certainly aesthetically looks a far better finished job!! lol!!

I like to fit cord end ferrules to 6mm and 10mm t&e when putting in showers etc. It stops the strands spreading under the screws and imo produces a better joint. Burned out connections are a common problem at this cable size and so far non of mine have had this problem.

Always fit cef's to flex in all applications (usually uninsulated ones).

I still don't get it.
OK you might use ferrules on stranded, and especially fine stranded cable to keep the strands together and give the conductor the properties of a solid core cable, so why would you need to give a solid core the properties of a solid core? It seems a bit like running SWA in trunking.
