Dear All

Just finished my C&G 2330 L2 this evening. All passed really enjoyed the course roll on L3. So to all people considering doing this couse I would totally recommend it. It may seem like a long time 2 nights a week for 2 years, but it flys-by.

Regards

Chris

Im still in the navy but having been doing little bit to keep my finger in. I have also done the Domestic Installers Course and the 17th edition. I want to do the 2392 inspection and testing next. My plan is to be fully qualified before I leave the navy and have enough experience to be up and running.

There is plenty of avenues to go down, yes I attended a college 2 evenings a week for 2 yrs. My thinking was in the future I would be more employable with 3-4 yrs traing as apposed to 7 week fast track course, it depends on your current situation thought.

I hope this helps a little. Also I appilied to the college and they said they were full, but I turned up on the night of enrollement and got a place another option worth considering

Hi Chris
Are you 'The Chris' from Saltash Construction College with Robin the Tutor & you were working with Daryl?
If so...I'll get in touch as I was with you last year...
If not...(mistaken coincidence) Congrats on passing your exams...I'm 2 weeks away from mine
Cheers

Hi Darren,

I have just finished my 2330 Lvl 3. I went back to college 30 years after leaving school.

I started my first year 8 weeks after everyone else, and went straight into major maths.

I struggled on for a few weeks and got some help from some of the other students on the maths and I helped them with their practical work and testing.

I passed year 1 + year 2 with distinctions, and mostly distinctions in year 3.

If I can do it i'm sure you can as well. Just dont panic and put a little extra time in to it.

Good luck

Cheers

Dave, thanks for sharing your experiences this is very valuable to me - I'm going to open eveing next week to try to get a place (gold dust seems to be the word).

How much practical and theory is there - I've done a lot of work on my house and am more a practical person, and how many books/tools do you need to buy? - I've set a little money aside for such like..

Thanks again.

Hi All

I'm just going through the 2330 Part2 and Part3 Courses at the moment. I am doing one of the fast track courses as I need to qualify ASAP. A few points to consider before making a decision on college or fast track.

The majority of my theory course is all based at home, and it can be very difficult motivating your self to do the work, especially if it's 19:30 and your are not quite grasping something. Any questions you have whilst at college are answered straight away and you find out it's often not just you that has those issues so you don't feel like such a dumb --- ! Fast track courses are very expensive, college is a much more economical way of doing the course. However it can take 4 years plus part time and from the information I got the waiting lists are quite high too (depends where you live i suppose) The choice I suppose all depends on how quickly you want to qualify and if like irishsailor you are currently working then college would be the best option. I was layed off about 4 weeks ago and i'm struggling to find anything even part time. ASDA Here I come........

As for the question of the Maths, I like maths so it's not been a problem for me. I have created a quick reference sheet to help me as there are quite a lot of equations to remember. I can email it if you think it may be of some use ? (I might be the only one it makes sense to, everyone's brain works differently)

I've not done any of the multiple choice exams yet, can anyone tell me if they are open book ?

Hope this post is of some use, if someone could let me know about the multiple choice stuff I would appreciated it

HI Adam

Thanks for the offer there mate, I'd love to see they cheat sheet for maths you worked out. I like maths too but at 37 am bit of an old dog trying to learn new tricks, so it's a little harder to adjust to having to learn again. Practical stuff is no problem however as i've done a bit on my house and am pretty hands on.

You're right on the waitng list - my college filled all the spaces for most of the trades courses in about 2 hours on an early enrolment night and if the tutors didn't see your potential you went straight on the reserve list, so I was lucky.

So far I've got some text books, past exam papers (happy to share these with you) and am just working through everything I can get my hands on - Ohms Law is this weeks favourite!

Everyone has been great and encouraged me to go for it, which I am, so thanks for your reply and good luck to you and the rest of the people who helped me so far!

Hi

Level 2 is not open book for the multiple choice exams, level 3 is open book as it is more about testing and inspection, so you can take your BRB in with you.:D

Hope this helps
