Fire alarm cables - can they be painted

As above, can they be painted? Or do they have to stay red? Commercial Premesis

ive seen plenty of fire cables painted, tho can you not put them in some trunking if its causing a problem would look smarter too

not really you can use white fp for fire alarms too

you could use pink if the customer was willing to pay for it,red is recommended but as long as all the fire cables are red or all of white or any other spec'd colour it complies as long as its not the same colour as the general electrical services quote as per fire alarm design guide

Yes they can be painted, and yes white cable can be used.
Although generally it is used for the supply to the fire alarm control panel, and everything from the panel is in red.

so what if i am using red fp on cable tray then branch off the cable tray to go into different rooms, surface clipped. The ceilings are white,so if they are painted white the cables will be 2 different colours (red on tray, white on ceilings) is this acceptable?

Also what is the minimum distance a smoke head should be located from a luminaire?

imo that would be no different that putting than bit of the run in white trunking your not physically changing the colour of the cable if you know what i mean,how close are you putting it
