Hi all,

Can anyone help me with this one...
I am about to be commissioned to install a fire alarm system in the communal area in an HMO. I know the system I am going to install (combination of Grade A and Grade D systems with non-interlinked smokes in room adjoining communal escape route within in flat and interlinked heats in communal escape area and room adjoining within each flat). I have also looked into the best practice with regards to actual installation methods etc.

s I am only registered as a Domestic Installer and not an Approved Contractor with NICEIC they wont let me certificate through them, however they advised me I can inform LABC myself and wont incur a call out charge as I am still deemed as a competent person.......

My question then is with regards to certification.....What paperwork do I need to complete, basically?

Would an FDM and an FIM be adequate?...or is more (or less) required?

Cheers in advance.

Matt

Hi Mattcos1972,

Sorry I am a bit new here and can only suggest some ideas....

Could you contact the alarm manufacturers to see if they do certificates that you could use? This might be of help.

I believe that Easy Cert do some certificates that can be printed out at a cost and this could be of help.

Would the LABC people be able to spec out what they are looking for in paperwork if you havent done anything like this? Would a BS7671 EIC certificate help a bit?

Hope this is of help and again sorry it is all questions with this reply,

Best wihses,

Rex
