Hi guys,

How easy is it to ad 5 smokes & 1 call point to a conventional alarm system?

Cheers,

Paul

easy. first find out if you have an unused zone. if so, use it for your new additions. if not, you have 2 options with an existing zone. either:

1. find the end detector and daisy chain from there, moving the eol device to the new end of line.

or:

2. pick a convenient detector and divert the radial through your new detectors then back to the existing detector.

as long as you have a radial with no spurs off.

I was going to take a new leg out from the board because the end of line is miles away an then come back to board after looping all the smokes and pick up and join the old leg

it could be cheaper and quicker to upgrade the panel for the additional zones, you can get a decent panel for £150,

Im doing a similar thing, sorry to hijack your post, adding 1 detector to an existing zone which is wired in grey twin(not fp200)its a domestic property(private house),im not sure that if your adding new cable that it should be fp200 or not.

I cant AM, im on a budget an the companys quite tight on money at the mo & watching what their spending out on. Anything else i should no when i reinstall the supply? Also what is the maximum number of points you can have to one zone, say on a 100m of cable?

if its a new zone use fp,if its adding to a zone with t&e using fp with add no real benefit

i cant see the logic in not spending £150 to make the job quicker,it will be cheaper than the rate to install a cable hours wise the customer gets a new panel for free so they think saves you money on the install...20 devices per zone

AM, just to digress. it's standard practice to use red FP200, but is it obligatory? reason i ask is that i'm in the middle of an install and i'm about 30m short of cable, but i do have some white FP200, rather than having to buy 100m red,
