Hi,

could someone tell what the fire alarm requirements would be for and office space space (with a kitchen area) and two occupied flats above. Am I correct in thinking the 2 x flats would need at detector each?

Thanks

This is not necessary usually where there is adequate compartmentation and separation between the commercial and residential areas, although it may be prudent to install sounders in the residential areas, linked to the detectors in the commercial area to provide some warning in the event of a fire.

might be worth a call to the local fire officer.

Thanks for your response. The flats are accessed via separate staircase and entrance doors. I'm thinking as there isn't a communal area it wouldn't be a good idea to install them as the panel will be inaccessible in the office? Flats should have there own separate smoke alarms?

yes full fire alarm part 1 in commercial premises, with siren on top of staircase entrance to flats. Separate solo smokes and heats in flats to Part 6
