Hi,

I need to install a fire control panel in a communal hallway and this is my first time. Can anyone provide any guidance as to decibel level or the units I should install?

Many thanks,

Ken

Off top of my head i think minimum is 65dB for most areas, but if needed to be heard in flats etc usual attenuation levels for internal doors is 20dB so would need to be highter for required level to be heard on the other side. Google bs5839 you should find most answers maybe even purchase this.

From memory, i think for open corridors and areas, it's something like measuring 80/85db from X amount of metres. I'll have to check that with our spec though!!

Bs5839 all areas need minimium of 65db, if a siren is maked up as 103db output, then this is the measurement at 1 meter. Rule of thumb, every meter you can loose aprox 10db, through a fire door or doors you will loose aprox 15-20db. Best method is put sirens on alternative walls were possible. In a large hall 1 siren should cover 20m x 20m or 400m Sq
