Fire rated don't only offer protection against spread of fire but also acoustic insulation. Also reduce dust buildup on rear of lamps. I now never fit un rated

I always fit fire rated nowadays, however, they are not really required to be in a normal domestic dwelling, unless they are fitted in an integrated garage ceiling or in a ceiling with a flat above for eg.

Not required in a normal domestic dwelling?!!! What is the Reg on this, please?

Sound advice - just remember to make sure there is no insulation covering usually at least 100mm space needed
