Fire system installation training

Hi all, I'm looking for some help with regards to Fire system installation training. I'm currently working with a friend of mine installing addressable fire systems. I come from a mostly house bashing background but looking to add more strings to my bow. Basically I'm looking for any suggestions on courses/qualifications with regards to this field. I've looked online and there seems to be lots of different options. A nationally recognised qualification is really what I'm looking for. Many thanks in advance!

ADT used to run courses. Carmel’s a big London company specialise in Fire/Suppression systems. MICC is making a come back too. Especially with interface loops. make sure your stripper and crimpers are ready to go!

I was told there's an enhanced FP cable so MICC need not be used.

By no means am I saying it’s a walk in the park, but I think long term it’s gonna be easier than house bashing. Physically speaking!

Fire Systems are more envolved and far better work than Domestic (DI) work. Domestic is DIY mate

All depends on the design spec what cables to install, down to design Engineer.

A fella I've been working with was mainly Domestic up to 7 years ago when he moved over to Fire Systems and as been doing it ever since and done his Qualifications with Fire Industry Association. He won't be going back to Domestic.

I was told there's an enhanced FP cable so MICC need not be used.

Depends on client Specs. Interface loops for equipment via SCADA, I’m hearing is predominately MICC. A trend that will probably pass. Just like the days of painting steel conduit red for associated fire circuits for bells and manual call points.

I don't think he would of trained with them if they were not highly regarded.

I think (could be wrong) that FIA are THE industry stipulators i.e. they are the ones that oversee and design the training for the sector, which is then give to training providers to deliver

Some of the domestic stuff I don’t mind, but some of it is just absolute dross.
