Hi all
I have been offered to do a first fix,This would be my first in the real world working for myself, from the information I have recived I think it will be a 3 bed terraced and assuming solid floors, not to bothered over material but more time verses cost . It would be nice to make a profit lol I will be doing this on my own and I think the property is empty.
regards
Dave

For basic white plastic try Hager sollysta. They are as cheap as the horrible tacky brands but actually a decent quality. Always a winner for me, just as good as MK logic but without the crazy costs.
  • nice rounded design
  • neutral loop terminals in switches
  • screw covers
  • aligned terminals on FCUs
Thats interesting considering a previous thread on here as to whether neutrals should be at switches.

me neither . the one wiring system i detest with a passion is switching in a JB, hidden away under floor, like some 60's wiring i've come across. fault finding is a nightmare.

Hi all
any thoughts on a bench mark for first fix and hopefully second fix, as I did find it odd why a price forjust the first fix

Very odd. If you are now a member of a scheme then you would be including the Part P stuff etc - if the customer doesn't understand it educate them.

The last thing you want is a keen price for the 1st fix then to be kicked off.

A rewire is a rewire, nothing else really matters.

Best talk to them about interlinked smokes, wiring for loft/cellar/outside/shed/garage etc etc too.

Go to site with a note book and a list of prepared questions - most customers don't think past the sockets and lights!

I always tend to wire that way these days tel when I ever do any domestic work, a better way as far as I am concerned, I can't understand the debate surrounding it lol

Defo the best way to go , with the very cramped light fittings , and also any fault finding and testing , and with these new smart switching devices these days , one thing though don't forget to install deep back boxes ,,

25mm2 are fine everywhere except the lounge, I tend to stick 35mm2 in as standard in case the customer decides on a dimmer
