Hello all, this is my first post so please be gentle. My Question is related to earthing on a rewire.
The house is on PME. But the main incoming water is in the garage. the garage is 2 ft away from the house and 22mm copper comes across to the house via a box section. Now it gets interesting. At the moment, they have nightstorage heaters. These will be replaced by an oil fired boiler in the garage. So now i'll have 5 copper pipes coming above ground in a box section to the house. My plan was to run a submain to the garage 10mm T&E plus a 10mm earth. Should i TT the garage or pme the lot. Generally I would TT remote buildings, but this is not a scenario I have come across before.

Hi Popsicle,

Your DNO might have something to say with regards to exporting the earth in this instance...some are ok, some are not, some might say beacuse it is less than 2 mtrs then you are fine, some might say less than 2 mtrs ok, as long as there are no extraneous conductive parts.

Therefore I would TT it. If you export your earth, and for whatever reason you lose it, then your copper pipework is your return earth path.

Make sure all of your main bonds are in place also.
