Why does it take Scottish Power less than a day to generate my electricity (and gas) bill from an on line meter reading submission and subsequent demand for payment, but 6 weeks on from my on line FIT submission Im still waiting for payment and have been told that the reading I submitted in the middle of July is due for payment in the middle of September
:hump:
They wouldnt accept that sort of payment behaviour from a customer, but when challenged all I get is "well, were a bit busy at the moment".

Codswallop.

My FiT provider is Scottish Power. Until the July reading they always paid two weeks after the reading date. This time around I hadn't received payment after one month.
I sent an email but got no reply.
I re-sent my meter reading twice more.
I then emailed the parent company's complaints contact details, stating that I intended to cease paying my bill to Scottish Power if they breached the terms of the FiT agreement (which is: payment within 28days, or in exceptional circumstances the end of the month following the reading).

A couple of days later, around 23-27 August, payment was made with a few days to a week to spare.

But If they hadn't paid promptly I fully intended to waste as much of their time as possible filling out formal complaints paperwork and letting them chasing me for utility bill payments, which I intended not paying until they paid what they owed me.

It's because they only pay when they got some verification / authorisation from Ofgem. Ofgem are continuously conducting audits on almost every installation looking for anomalies. (e.g. more output expected than system size registered for other systems installed in a similar location)

I wouldn't say that my system was a high performer compared to some because it's at a disadvantage facing East-South-East. As far as I can tell, the FiT license doesn't state the azimuth, pitch or shading.
For example: my first whole year of generation was 3300kWh from a 3.75kWp system (3.6kW inverter). However, the SAP2009 estimate said just under 3000kWh. Would they be comparing against the estimate, which, I think, may be on my FiT license?

Yes they are comparing against your fit estimate, and also comparing that estimate to others..
I hade long discussions with the chair of one of the MCS comittee's the other day and they are clamping down on any claims that look as though they could be fraudulent (significantly overperforming) and visiting those sites for audit purposes.

Any indication of how much above the SAP estimate will trigger an inspection?
I have nothing to hide and they are welcome to come and inspect, but outperformance of SAP by about 10% seems fairly typical so if they set the inspection threshold much lower than about SAP+15% they'll be making a lot of work for themselves.

That information wasn't part of the conversation. The bottom line is if you've nothing to hide, you've nothing to worry about :)

Fine by me if they want to inspect mine, TBH if we hadn't had the exceptional weather I would have been under SAP by quite a way as it was I was 20kWh over (predicted 2000kWh), but during the winter months I under perform on my predicted generation significantly (eg, November I should generate 20kWh for the month - actual generation 4kWh).

I am with Scottish Power, and I had an inspection about a month ago. It was a "G4S bloke" that turned up. I thought it was a scam as I had no dealing with G4S. Scottish power did not reply to my email, asking if it was genuine or not. anyway this bloke turned up, he looked at the generation meter took a reading and was on his way.

ref FIT payment delays, it was a bad start but got better.

The FiT payers are supposed to actually read the meters at least once every 2 years - it's one of the things they MUST do .
