I have just read an article on the mail online website which has just frightened the living daylights of me!. It is suggesting that the fits will be slashed in the review next April, as the aticle says 'it would desimate the renewable industry' Anyone else got any opinions on this ? or heard anything?

It would absolutley kill me, after the money time and effort i have put in getting qualified and paying for marketing. I just seem to be getting a return for my money, then bang this hits me

Any thoughts

Might be good for the industry, after all the adverts on the telly saying 'be an Electrician, earn 50k a year'!
It cound then get rid of all the sparks in a day course people and go back to carpet fitting, carwashing etc.

As far as all the rumours that i keep hearing about the place , it looks more like it will be in January not April ?

Financial times was banding the 9p/unit figure

Latest I heard was more likely in the mid 20ps and confirmed by government that it will be April

Scarry though

This is not being argumentative, rather its a socialist view I hold

Can anyone give me a reason why the taxpayer as a whole should subsidise this cost ?

Why should taxes of a person on perhaps low income, be subsidising the heating bills of another person who may be well able to afford these systems without this national assistance ?

Isn't the system morally wrong, better off folks being given a hand up by poorer folks?

I love this coment! AND agree!!!!!

It could be argued that the 'rich' are helping to save the world from global warming????????????

This could just run and run......NOT ARGUMENTATIVE....I would love this one in the pub on a Friday night!
AND it was the socialists that introduced it and the right wing that are killing it!!!!!!

It isn't the taxpayer that subsidises the cost. It is energy users in general. Therefore high users are effectively paying more than low users. It is a pretty fair assumption to say that high users are high income and low users are low income. When you think of it like that, it is perhaps a little easier to swallow.

The fact is, green energy is going to cost money.

The low income families always have the opportunity to have free solar installed.

My opinion is that they should cut out the large companies(free solar) moping up the money, and why not promate a green loan system.
1. the fits are kept at present levels
2. let say the maximum kwh you can own is 10kw
3. give pople under certain income levels or/ and savings access to green loans payed for by the present fuel bill levies, ie loan is paid back through fits, after loan is paid back the money is kept by the pv system owner
charge a percentage on the loans

Outcome is pv industry grows creating more work/ jobs, everyone has access to the pv systems, fits fund maintains levels and encurages green energy , reduces carbon foot print. downside is people all pay small levy on fuel bills

Hello

not a solar installer, thought about it, just a normal sparky common or garden, what I ask of you as a group that may (or may not) be reading this thread is to point me to some objective advice about whether it is worth it or not, as in coughing up £10,000 quid for some extra roof tiles.

I mean proper figures not the sales figures I would take with me on quotes if and when I get my MCS and ISO this and that and so on

Seriously is it worth it while the current FIT rate exists? What is the payback?

I can't think of a downer negative reason except that most people are skint so most people can't find ten thousand quid to stump up for it.

Cheers in anticipation and apologies to the OP for slightly hijacking ....
