Hi...I want to fit extractor fans in our en-suite and main bathroom. These are not going above a shower or bath but in the centre of the room. The lighting ring is accessible in the loft space for the power and I'm competent at electrical work (although electronics is my trade). So can I do this work myself or do i need to employ an electrican? Thanks

Ridiculously, if the electrical work is inside the bathroom zones (Google it) then the work is notifiable and should be done by a registered electrician.
So the killer question is:
How high are the ceilings? If over 2.25m then you can DIY it.

If you are competent then crack on. In my opinion competent would being able to perform this alteration in full knowledge of and compliance with the wiring regulations including testing and production of a certificate.

The fans may also be more effective if positioned closer to the moisture producing areas such as shower and bath.

Best to get an electrician everything has to be on an rcd circuit so if light circuit isn’t already it now has to be and a good electrician will have equipment to core the 4 inch holes for you

Use in-line fans then they aren't in the bathroom. Do fit a local isolator to isolate all live conductors for maintenance.

...yes thanks for your reply...the ceiling is 2.4m high
