Hi
My Kitchen has never had a cooker hood installed.
Where the new hood is going to be situated is some distance from any of the outlets in the kitchen ring main.
However there is a cable coming out of the wall near where the hood is going that was originally intended for one of a pair of wall lights that were never installed. the cable ends are terminated into a choc block as is the end of the other cable where the other wall light was going to be on a nearby wall.
Can I attach the cooker cable (which has no supplied plug)to the corresponding terminals in the choc block of the nearby cable, and fit a double pole fused connection unit - protected with a 13amp fuse or a 3amp to the other unused wall light cable?
Hope this makes sense
Brian

fit a 3A or a 5A fuse, depending on the hood's requirements. RTFM
Hi Thank you for your response,
From what I understand then will it be OK to use the cables that were originally intended for wall lights and are on the kitchen lighting circuit?
Just to confirm - connect the cooker cable to the choc block connector on the nearby wall light cable.
And fit a double pole fused connection unit onto the other wall light cable on the other wall.
There is nothing in the cooker hood installation requirements that relates to the fuse rating, the only reference is for the power supply 220-240V -50Hz
It has two 3W lamps,and a 210w Motor
The cooker cable did not have a plug fitted
Thanks
Brian

that wattage is just aboult 1A so will be fine.
Hi,
Thank you so much for your reply
Basically is what I have asked about re using the wall light cables and fitting a switched fused double pole connection unit OK to go ahead with and will I be OK fitting a 3amp fuse to the unit then rather than a 5 amp ?
Many Thanks
Brian
