HI all,

doing my first install next week.
the sanyo HIT235se10 panels are being fitted landscape so im going to have to put noggins in to fit the brackets in the right place , my question is am i ok to fix to 4"x2" noggings between the trusses and then fix the brackets to the noggins, the Segen guy said a few installers do it this way?

thanks
grand

timber to timber connectors?? ou got a google imae of that setup, was just going to pilot the trusses then drive a nice big hex screew in

You are not allowed to put a screw in greater than 1/9 the width of the rafter.

So to put an 8mm screw in the MINIMUM rafter width is 72mm. Oh, and it must be pilot holed to the correct diameter depending upon the screw specifications.

All as per the MCS requirements.

But you all knew that didn't you :)

Also bear in mind that joist hangers aren't designed to resist uplift so you'll have to include a fixing method to resist that.

Graeme, I realised what he meant, that's what I was talking about, they are normally designed only to take a downward force and not uplift.

WT?.... Scary questions:13:

Now you've forgotten about dead load.

So, would you expect a chippy to wire a house? :cowboy:

I STRONGLY urge you to get a proper, expert structural design done, else you will bring the whole business into disrepute.

It'll cost uou kless than ÂŁ100 to get a deswign from a structural engineer, and for a few bob more he'll probaly do the calcs thatyou need done for the roof anyway.

Do the job properly, I don't ask my dentiist for my glasses prescription.

lol just think out loud, ive no worries in fixing them, one thing that does bother me now is i cant get a Roof anchor with a 90 degree turn for a plain tile, im wondering if i could use the pantile anchor and adjust the noggin im putting in, but then ill have the problem of enough depth in the roof truss, it will be easy to sort on the day but ill have to order all sorts of anchors and decide on whats best.
