Flashing PIR Floodlight problem

Hi,

I have an external floodlight without a switch on the inside. a few months back it started to come on, then go off for like 3 seconds, then come back on again, then off, then on. i changed the unit and the new one was fine. then the same started to happen again with the new one. surely i cant have had 2 bad floodlights or is there anything else i can check? there is nothing moving within range to set off the pir. as a last resort i have had to remove the bulb so it doesnt keep going off all night!

erm, just a thought Rudie, how did you find out that the flood light was on with the kitchen/ garage lights?

From when I turn off the trip at the elec meter.

Had the circuit been switched off briefly for any reason before the original flood light went wrong? Some have an override or test facility which operates in the event of a power failure or intentional switch off.

no, dont think so marky, it started to happen without a power cut as far as i know. i have turned off the elec since for more than a few minutes which should have reset?
