computer suite fitted out with 600x600 ceiling grid with the 4 x 2' fluorescent units scattered through it. The units have built in PIR modules to 'save power'. However, these modules are now failing and crompton no longer produce them.
Previous sparkeys have been linking the feed for the failed unit to the switch live of a nearby working unit.
I now have a linked unit that works fine when its supply unit has been activated, but when there has been no movement and the supply unit turns off the linked in unit has 2 of the 4 tubes that don't turn off but start flashing instead.
I can't check to see if there is an induced voltage as the damn thing turns on again as I approach it to test it.
I have changed all the tubes, and it is a HF ballast.
Ideas please.

Can you not short out the existing PIR units ans see what happens.
If they are the cause of the fault Would it possible to link out all the PIR detectors and fit a new ceiling mounted unit that switches all fittings easy job and easy to get hold of.

Another option, but is costly is to go to LED tubes with built in PIRs. I think Aurora do a range of them, I remember seeing at a trade show.

Sounds like the PIR's can not handle the loading of the florescent lights. Wire the PIR to switch on a contactor, which then supplies the lights. Also check to see if the units have a battery back up (Emergency lights), I've seen them play up (flicker) if the batteries are not cycled and are knackered
