Got a customer wanting some LED floor lights. They want 4/5 on each side through hardwood floor thats to be installed.

Q1. They dont want to locate a driver any place where you can see it (explained it cant just be put under floor etc) any idea's
Q2. Best way to wire them up through hardwood floor after installed and ceiling is skimmed below...

They thought decking lights would work, but they have a transformer with plug top so no good etc...

Whats the best way installing these guys. Want to make a decent job and not look like a DIY'er has dont it etc...
Thanks

have you thought about 230V LED lighting, or make the drivers accessible by removing the fittings.

Can't see why there is a difference between installing these type of fittings in ceilings or floors!! Your drivers are accessible through the fitting aperture. Just because those decking lights come with a plug top fitted, doesn't mean you can't chop it off and install as any other light fittings...

Thanks for your quick replies guy.

Sorry forgot to say the fittings are around 25mm so unable to put the driver through the holes into the floor void.

240v LED fittings are too large so couldnt go down this route.

Sorry, im prob being dumb here but how do you mean? the decking lights have all around 1m tails that have a fac fitted moulded plug that go to a joint station then this has a mains plug in tranny that you fit in a std 13A socket outlet.

Timo,

You didn't say it was it was a tranny plug did you. I was thinking along the lines of an ''in-line'' tranny!!

EDIT ...Ooooops ....Yes you did!!! Sorry, it's been one of those nights tonight ...lol!!

It may be possible to use a din rail power supply at low frequency to supply all the lamps. The whole system should only take about 0.5 Amps and you would have no radio broadcast problems at low frequency and then you would only need to fit the 12V wiring to the lights.

I have a load of small (18mm 350mA) LEDs in a ceiling and had the same issue - there is a constant current driver located in an easily accessible location with ELV cabling to the fixtures themselves.

The mains pack is 12v 500ma out. If i get a suitable driver at the same output would this suite mate?
