What do you guys use if your working on a floor that needs good protection.

Looking at a rewire and they have parkay flooring.

Was thinking of sheets of corex

No it staying and last time the builder worked in the house someone must of dropped something and put a little knock in it and he made the builder pay for a French polisher to fix it.

So keen to make sure it stays mint but on the flip side I haven't aloud for spending a £100 on sheeting it up. But better safe than sorry

You can get sheets of poly carbonate floor protector stuff in Travis Perkins (I believe).

Or sheets of thin hard board (its cheap as chips).

that keeps the dust and crap off the floor, but won't protect against heavy objects being dropped on it. some cheap underlay ( best if it's some old crap you've ripped out coz. it don't cost anything) and the plastic sheet on top. viscreen can be taken up and re-used on other jobs.

I can see this job being a nightmare for you, given the specialised job of French polishing and the cost of repairs. Best of luck, not a job I would be interested in rewiring unless you have something set in writing that the customer is responsible for arranging his own protection for his highly expensive floor. ( you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs springs to mind) I know I have oak floors in my house whilst I thought I took all the precautions, you guessed it I scratched it doing the electrics . Best of luck on this one

What size of area are you looking at?

If every room was sheeted prob 200m square

But I think I'll cover the main area and then just shuffle the other rooms round.

It's a nice big job so it's worth doing, just something the builder has just brought up if I had aloud a cost for this in my price.

Tell the builder you haven't allowed for this and add the sheeting cost to the price. Or get him to supply the protection. As you said you haven't allowed for this.
