Although prob easy question, I am installing my first heat mat and am wishing to make sure that the floor sensor is fitted right !
I have got some small tube that I'm pretty sure the sensor goes inside and protects it when it sits in chase in floor before self levelling goes down. But do you leave the sensor tip / bulb inside tube slightly rather than proud and then tape end sealed to stop any muck getting in ? Just wondered if the sensor will then pick up temp from inside the tubing ok ?

The hope for most heat mats is that the sensor could be removed if it fails, in practice this is generally unlikely.
However this does mean the sensor should be inside the tube and the tube not filled with levelling compound, adhesive, etc., so you have the right idea.
Remember that this will be a sealed system so the heat will always get through to the sensor, the mats are not fast acting so there is no requirement for precise temperature control and the heat will vary slightly over the mat area anyway but be evened out by the floor covering.

Thanks again Richard
