Fluke 1653b

Hi. I am regularly using a 1653 test kit and have not got around to experimenting with saving test results and transferring to my computer at a later time. I was just wondering if anyone has had experience in using it and is it compatible with Amtech software etc.

To upload test results:​

1. Connect the IR serial cable to the serial port on the PC.
2. Attach the IR adapter and the device to the tester as shown in Figure 22.
Be sure to align the IR adapter to the IR port on the tester.​

Note
The IR data port is disabled when test leads are plugged in.
Disconnect test leads before attempting to upload test results.​

3. Start the Fluke PC software program.
4. Press​

O to turn on the tester.

To the best of my knowledge it is not compatible with Amtech software sorry.​

I do have the Fluke software and am awaiting delivery of a netbook to get itup and running,however are the test results stored in the tester in such a way that when hooked up to the laptop that they transfer automatically to the correct location ie. DB,circuit number,R1R2,IR,Zs boxes or is this done manually??

from what I can remember, when you run the software it will pull the info from the tester (when its on). I stopped using mine as it wasn't as good as I hoped it would be.

Hi Anto,

Used the software once then gave up on it as it's too time consuming and its far easier to just input the data on your form by hand.

I now use the Seaward PowerPlus 1557 and it has built in certificates and again this takes up too much time so is not used and certs are filled in by hand.

I was interested in the Seaward PowerPlus 1557, what makes it so much slower than writing the certificate by hand. Looking at the concept/marketing etc. it looks like it would save time.

Is it the typing/keyboard aspect?

Hi Finalfrontier,

It is the built in keyboard that is too fidgety to use, much prefer inputting information by hand into forms.
