Fluorescent fitting to bright

Hi Guys

Sorry this is going to seem like a stupid question but I installed a 600 x 600 HF 4 x T8 fitting today and the customer is moaning it's too bright , is there a way of removing a couple of tubes without them all going out ? I always thought if I removed one tube they would all go out.

The stuff we use last for the length we look after it. It only get binned when nobody can be bothered to pick it up off the floor. That's lee, 60 pound a roll. Yeah I know you'll need ND to take the hit off it. I got mixed up reading nick lake post, saw the word diffuser and numbers and thought that's what he was asking.

Reading again, he said he put gel I between a diffuser

How do you look after it? It burns out when it burns out. Maybe a layer of heat shield to help it last a bit longer, but it still burns out.

You get acrylic safety sleeves that go over fluorescent tubes, I'm sure a white one would reduce the light output.

Just for interest I see they make an 'anti-drug' fluorescent tube. Never seen them before, every day is a schoolday.

There is no control gear for dimming
I believe it's warm white or white , definitely not cool
Its has a metal diffuser

Is the issue one of illuminance (lux) or lack of glare control. Standards can be found in BS EN 12464-1:2002.
