Thanks guys, resolved.

I am living in Apple/MAC/Safari land so a lot of the above suggestions do not apply.

Anyways, a couple of hits with cmd + and a restart of Safari seems to have fixed it.
Thank you for worrying so much.

My alerts is hidden by the Christmas garbage while we're all having a moan. Not the alerts button itself, but the little red number that shows up when you have some alerts. Missing on computer and phone when I've looked.

Good. Missus asked this morning when the tree was going up. I said "same as every year, Christmas Eve". "But we've got a child now" she replied.
