I've been working in a Victorian semi. I was asked by the client to take a look at the wiring for the kitchen ring final - in particular the state of the wiring under the floor boards.
What I found was a mass of cables connected into two 30A screw-terminal junction boxes. On closer examination there was the ring final (kitchen) to sockets and an oven, a second ring connected to four sockets in a dining room, a third ring connected to a single socket elsewhere in the kitchen and a fourth ring connected to yet another socket. Clearly the work of some clown I suspect - unless I've misunderstood some really neat way of wiring ring finals that isn't covered by any of the regulations/publications I've read...
Now I've never come across this before. I wondered whether any of you out there have and what the record for ring finals all connected in parallel might be?

No idea myself. I'd have thought connecting rings in parallel would effectively reduce the resistance and therefore potentially increase the current through the cable. That said, it's my day off so that might be boll%$ÂŁ"ks...

I rewired it all as a single ring but ran a new ring for the dining room sockets and the odd single socket...
Also ran a new radial for the oven..
It's a full house refurb and the floorboards are all loose at the mo. Tests out just fine now. Got until July to complete...
