Sorry I can't agree with that. As Telectrx posted earlier a lot of companies employ high pressured selling tactics to scare people into thinking their installation is unsafe when it is not.

The visual inspection alone is not recognised as a test procedure in the BS 7671-2008, the only way to ascertain if an installation is safe for continued use is by a full PIR.

Because an installation is not upto the current BS 7671-2008 standard does not make it unsafe, and by scaring people into beleiving becasue they do not have RCD protection, the installation is a death trap is bordering on fraud IMO.

Advise is one thing, and pointing out that RCD protection can make the installation safer is one thing, emphasing that without an RCD the installation is dangerous is another.

wot I am trying to say is there is no legal constitution stating that anyone has to change anything in the report but no insurance company will pay out on any electrical fire if owner of property has not carried out work. Too many people do put it across as you say but they dont have to get anything done and the report that they get tells them its recommendations but it is in the owners best interest to get work done due to safety as if anyone else gets injured or killed then insurance womt even cover for legal expenses, so give the owner details let them decide for themselves if they want to comply or not only time its a legal requirement just now is if it is a completion certificate.
